Photo Guidelines

Good reference photos are really important to make sure I can make you the very best portrait. Please think about the following when selecting photos to send:

  • Lighting

All the better to see them sparkle, and for me to better assess the true colours of the subject

  • Angle

Think about what angles might be the most flattering, or the cutest. As a general rule it’s often better to be on the same level as the subject

  • Resolution

A reasonable resolution is necessary so I can see outlines, but hopefully if you’ve ticked the above boxes, this should be okay

  • The more the better!

Please do send lots of photos, it gives me more options for composition and I can use them all to check colours and markings (if they’re a pet!) and get a better idea of the subject’s character

If anything isn’t clear, or you want me to check over some images for you, I am more than happy to do so. If you’re planning this portrait as a surprise gift, but can’t get hold of the right sort of image, don’t worry! There’s always the possibility of giving a gift voucher, just drop me an email to discuss.
